| Jo's Fleece Fields llama herd consists of four animals that serve primarily as guard animals for the alpaca herds. Our llamas include: | |
| Koko -- is the nicest, gentlest, llama we've ever met. He recently spent a day at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle meeting over a thousand people (mostly kids) in one day - and willingly let all of them touch and poke him as he stood by the edge of his pen. Koko also is an excellent guard for all of our female alpacas and cria - he considers all of them his own and lets nothing threaten his family. |
|
| Katie -- is shy, but will come up and take carrots or grain. She is gentle, never spits at people, but will defend her food against all except Patches. |
| Patches -- has a mind of her own. Sometimes she is loving and cuddly, loves to give you a kiss, and milliseconds later she will spit in your face. Some have suggested that for her spitting is a sign of affection and pleasure. She begs to be scratched just above the tail, and when we comply she spends the whole time spitting away from us, but if we stop...... well, you can guess. |
|
| Sunny -- is an old lady who doesn't interact with people or the other llamas or alpacas. She is content to eat her hay, graze a little grass, and spend the day laying around the pasture -- rain or shine. |
